Believe it or not, the first official day of summer is this weekend. To many Denver residents, summertime means patio time. The same can be said for Denverites’ furry friends.
With the summer solstice less than a week away, it’s time to start being true Americans and bite into a juicy burger. Nowhere in Denver is there a better place to sink your teeth in a delicious burger while chillin’ out on a shaded, dog friendly patio than at The Whittier Pub.
Mile High Munchies dives right in and crashes the Whittier Pub party. One the menu: The Angry Bird, crispy tots, and – of course – a libation or two.
All Rolled (or Wrapped) Into One
Serving as the only bar or pub in the Whittier neighborhood for over two years, it’s no surprise the Whittier Pub has everything a hungry Whitt-tier…Whittier-est…everything a hungry Whittier resident could ever want.
Be sure to pop in for one of the Whittier Pub’s TWO daily happy hours, from 3-7PM and again from 10PM-close for $1 off drafts, and $3.50 wells. If you’re looking to step your well game up a notch, there’s also an every night, late night $4 Pinnacle Vodka and $4 Jim Beam deals from 9PM-close. Both make for great timing for a pit stop while out on a run with a friend of the furry variety. The Whittier Pub has built-in carabiner clamps located on the exterior wall of the patio to clip your dog to alongside numerous dog accessible (or should I say, exclusive) water bowls so you and Spot can cool off from making sure your bodies are beach-ready, at the same time.
As is typical with a neighborhood pub, the Whittier hosts Geeks Who Drink Pub Quizzes every Wednesday night, while also providing $6 turkey melts on that day of the week for hungry quiz nerds (and everyone else, too). Working in reverse chronological order, Tuesdays’ special boasts a $6 chicken wrap all day long, and Monday is ‘Burger Monday’. $6 for a cheeseburger, which is the best deal the Whittier Pub offers, because burgers are the Whittier Pub’s specialty.
The crowning achievement of the Whittier Pub’s burger selection shares its name with a popular iPhone game, but will leave hungry patrons with a smile from ear to ear, contrary to its name. Who wouldn’t want a fried egg on top of a perfectly cooked burger patty? And who wouldn’t want a little guacamole to accompany…well…everything!? No one, that’s who. The Whittier Pub cashes in on the greatness of all three, serving the ‘Angry Bird’ with a fried egg, pico de gallo, and guac on top. Sub the side of fries for ‘crispy’ tots for an extra special treat. If you can’t remove yourself from a completely understandable obsession with french fries, order the green chile tots on the side. The chile is unique, to say the least, but is made for accompanying those tasty little tater tots.
For those who enjoy a libation or two…or ten…on the weekend evenings, only to need a recovery bowl and some greasy or hispanic food the following morning; Whittier has you covered. Served from open-3Pm every Saturday & Sunday, Whittier’s weekend brunch matches its amazing burgers in quality. If a recovery bowl first thing in the morning still doesn’t get the job done, take on a little hair of the dog on the cheap. $2 coors drafts, $3 mimosas and $4 Tito’s bloodys make for an affordable addition to any hangover remedy.
